Recognizing a valued Texas Trust Member, Eunice Currie
Celebrating diversity and excellence, Texas Trust Credit Union proudly spotlights Mrs. Eunice Currie, a trailblazer who dedicated 29 years as Assistant Vice President at the University of Texas at Arlington, becoming the first black woman to hold this prestigious title. Recently retired, Mrs. Currie has been a valued member since 2021, utilizing our services for her financial journey, including a 15-month CD added in December to enhance her retirement payout. Mrs. Currie, a first-generation immigrant, embodies resilience, pursuing higher education despite challenges, and now advises others to stay focused on their goals. Her story inspires us, reflecting our commitment to serving diverse communities.
Eunice has truly exemplified our credit union’s mission to educate and serve our communities through her position as Assistant Vice President. As a first-generation immigrant, she has faced the hardship of adapting to a new country and culture. Yet still, encouraged by her Antiguan parents, she sought higher education and persevered. “When my sisters and I went into higher education, it wasn’t exactly the experience we’d thought it would be. I decided then that when I graduated, I wanted to go back into that space and work with students with diverse backgrounds on how to thrive.” She states.
When asked for advice to immigrants coming to the United States looking to pursue a higher education, Mrs. Currie shared, "Stay the course. Focus on your goals and make them happen!"
We are privileged to have members like Mrs. Eunice Currie who represent the spirit of resilience and excellence that defines our credit union family. Her story is an inspiration, and we look forward to witnessing the continued success and achievements that lie ahead for this remarkable woman.
