Overdraft Coverage - Frequently Asked Questions

Overdraft Protection

What is Overdraft Protection?

Overdraft Protection is included when you open your checking account. It pays transactions that would overdraw your checking account by automatically transferring funds from a different account you have with Texas Trust that is linked to your checking account. You have the option to link a savings account, credit card, line of credit, or even another checking account.

Are there fees associated with Overdraft Protection?

Yes, overdraft privileges do have associated fees.

  • Overdraft Privilege Fee: $30.00
  • Overdraft Privilege Fee (Young Adult 18 - 23): $10.00 for transactions $10.00 or less; $20.00 for transactions above $10.00
  • Overdraft Transfer Fee (from Credit Card, Line of Credit, Savings, or Checking Account): $5.00

For further details read the Texas Trust Overdraft Coverage Disclosure

How does Overdraft Protection work with Linked Accounts?

If a checking or savings account is linked to a different account eligible for overdraft protection, the exact amount to cover an overdraft can be transferred.

If a transfer is made from a credit card or line of credit, transfers are made in increments of $100.

Transfer fees apply.

What if a Linked Account cannot cover an overdraft?

Overdraft Protection is the first source of funds for all overdraft occurrences. If the linked accounts do not have a sufficient available balance, we will use Standard Overdraft Privilege or Extended Overdraft Privilege to pay the transaction up to specified limits if they apply to your account.

Can I cancel this coverage?

You can terminate Overdraft Protection at any time via email; secure message center in online banking; branch visit; or telephone at (972) 263-5171 or (800) 527-3600; or mail at PO Box 2260, Mansfield, Texas 76063.

If neither Overdraft Protection nor Overdraft Privilege allows payment of an overdraft, the transaction may be declined for insufficient funds and the NSF fee in the Fee Schedule will be charged.

Standard Overdraft Privilege

What is Standard Overdraft Privilege?

Standard Overdraft Privilege is provided to you when your account is opened and stays in place as long as your account remains in good standing. When you have an overdraft in your checking account and your linked accounts do not have sufficient available funds to pay it, we use Standard Overdraft Privilege for purchases made using your checking account and routing numbers.

This coverage includes Bill Pay payments, checks, and ACH transactions. We’ll pay these transactions automatically up to your overdraft limit.
